Aqua GeoServices’ core business is the development and protection of the groundwater resource. We offer a full range of specialist services to assist our clients in developing new water sources and/or maintaining their existing ones.
Water Quality Testing
It is estimated that there are 170,000 household wells in Ireland, which supply water to individual households (Source: EPA, 2017).
30% of these wells are thought to be contaminated by E. coli arising from animal and/or human waste. Through our work, we also come with a wide range of other risks to water supply wells, ranging from oil spills to rodents who have fallen into poorly protected wells and drowned.
AGS can help you in screening the overall water quality of your supply by testing the water quality for a range of selected parameters and make recommendations on how to improve the protection of your supply and on the most appropriate water treatment system, if required.
New Wells
Should you need a new water supply, we can assist you in:
- refining the best location(s) for drilling in a given site area,
- drawing up the specifications for the well based on your needs, i.e. whether it is for residential, geothermal, exploration, dewatering, monitoring or production purposes.
- Project managing, supervising and logging all aspects of drilling.
- Testing the sustainability of the groundwater both in terms of quality and quantity.
Existing Wells
Should you notice a decline in your well yield or in the water quality, we can assess the situation and provide you with the most cost-effective solution to clean, rehabilitate or repair your water well and avoid the often-unnecessary costs of drilling a new one unless there is no other option available.
We offer the following services:
-
Assessment, Monitoring & Maintenance
Like any other construction, water wells deteriorate overtime. In order for maintenance to be effective, it is necessary to establish the main causes for the deterioration to occur: AGS can assist you in identifying the factor(s) affecting your well performance, i.e. physical, chemical, microbial, structural, operational or a combination of the above.
This is generally achieved via monitoring and diagnosis. Depending on the results of our assessment, AGS would make recommendations for the maintenance of your supply well and, in extreme cases, for its rehabilitation.
-
Decommissioning
Old wells that are no longer needed or in use should be made safe or sealed to avoid surface/shallow contamination of groundwater to occur and prevent cross contamination between aquifers.
Based on the local geology and the construction details of a well, we can provide a range of services to decommission this latter as per current best standards.
